onX Offroad
I use onX to plan my trips and track my routes. The technical ratings in the app keep me safe and prevent me from wasting time on routes that are either too easy or difficult. Whether you're an seasoned Offroader, or looking to get your tires off pavement for the first time, our blog does a good job explaining how to get started. As always, tread lightly!
Equipment
I can't recommend this hard top from Bulldawg Manufacturing enough for two door Jeeps. It's a single piece, fully customizable, locally sourced with a great support team, and super easy to assemble. I even had the Rhino platform rack mounted to the top for me during install, and threw in the awning to keep my dry on powder days.
The iKamper Skycamp Mini 3.0 is the only hard roof top tent to fit on the roof footprint of a two door Jeep Wrangler. It made camping in rough terrain (snow, rocky ground, etc) much more comfortable.
Recovery gear is essential if you want to avoid that expensive tow bill. I opted against a winch as I'm frequently in terrain above treeline or without trees altogether, so I went with the Max Trax. There are cheaper options, although I've heard those don't handle snow as well. I didn't want to take chances with my recovery gear, and I can say these paid for themselves quickly.
For more general gear advice on how to get started off roading, check out our blog at onX. We even have a special section for snow wheeling.
Bucket List
This is a dynamic list of trails I'm itching to check out when the time arises. I'm also keeping an eye on events to meet fellow Offroaders and share stories.
