After a week in Lake Tahoe, CA I made my way to Bend, OR and Mount Bachelor. I was hoping to get as many miles in as possible on the first day driving, and got lucky that doing so landed me at this campsite overlooking a lake near Susanville, CA.

A little frost on the tent with the sunrise, but I continued to stay warm at night. Mammoth Lakes had gotten as cold as 3 degrees Fahrenheit. I had forgotten that eastern Oregon had desert, and so was pleasantly surprised by the beautiful views along the route.

I arrived in Bend, OR, a bit earlier this time, which was fortunate because just as I started to set up camp I realized a bathroom visit was in order -- rather than dig a (very cold) hole or use the portable toilet, I opted to go back to town. Modern plumbing is a luxury!

Once back at camp I still had time to cook dinner and snap a few pictures. The timber felt quintessentially Oregon.

Skiing Mount Bachelor
Skiing at Mount Bachelor meant more bluebird days. Also, it had snowed a few inches the day before I arrived, which made for the best conditions so far on the trip.

Skiing Mount Bachelor
The mountain was unique in being 360 degrees, which made for a lot of time exploring all the various runs.

Backcountry Tours near Mount Bachelor
I felt a bit spoiled working for onX Backcountry and taking the lift access while watching the touring groups. I'm sure they were using the app!

Bachelors
It was only appropriate to get a solo photo on top of Mount Bachelor.

Camping at Mount Bachelor
Mount Bachelor and a few of the subsequent ski areas allow for overnight camping with permits, so I decided to give it a try. It was great to sleep in and still have first chair access. Plus, the hot shower was much nicer than the ones I had been using at Anytime Fitness throughout the trip.
